The Smart Importer is the fastest way to populate your portfolio. Instead of manually mapping columns, you can simply drag and drop your brokerage statement (CSV, PDF, or screenshot), and Rask AI will interpret the data for you.

How it works

1. Upload

Go to Portfolio, click Add portfolio, and select Manual.

Before uploading, create and select a manual portfolio name (for example, “SMSF holdings”). Smart Import needs a destination portfolio first.

The Smart Import tab is selected by default. Drop your file into the magic zone.

2. AI Interpretation

Rask AI will automatically:

  • Detect if the file is a Holdings Snapshot (current positions) or Transaction History.
  • Identify assets (ASX/US tickers are matched automatically).
  • Extract units, prices, and currencies.
  • Flag potential issues (e.g., “This looks like a property”).

3. Smart Grid Review

You’ll be presented with a spreadsheet-like GUI (the Smart Grid).

  • Edit inline: Adjust numbers like units and price directly in the grid.
  • Resolve tickers: Click the Asset / Ticker cell to search Markets and pick the correct match (ASX/US).
  • Change currency: Use the currency dropdown next to the price field.
  • Matched assets: Green badges indicate the asset was found in our database (live pricing supported).
  • Custom assets: Yellow badges indicate the asset will be tracked manually without live pricing.
  • Locked-in matches: If you explicitly select a match, Rask will use that selection for calculations (so it won’t “drift” back to a custom holding later).

4. Import Now

Once you’re happy with the data, click Import Now. Rask will create the necessary ledger transactions and update your portfolio dashboard immediately.

Supported File Types

  • CSV: Spreadsheet exports from any broker.
  • PDF: Official trade confirmations or monthly statements.
  • Images (JPG/PNG): Screenshots of your holdings page.

Common Questions

  • What if a ticker is wrong? Click the Asset / Ticker cell and re-resolve it via Markets (best for ASX/US). If it’s not listed, switch it to a custom holding.
  • What about property? Rask will flag items that look like real estate. You can import them now or add more detail via the Wealth Entities page later.
  • Is my data safe? Yes. Rask redacts sensitive info (like account numbers) before processing, and your files are stored in your secure private vault.
