So you’re ready to connect your bank accounts? The Cashflow Setup is a 6-step wizard designed to get your “money story” up to date in minutes.

Before you start

  • Have your online banking login details ready.
  • Decide which accounts you want to track (e.g., daily spending, savings, credit cards).

The 6-Step Setup Process

1. Connect bank feeds

We use secure, read-only Open Banking APIs to connect to your accounts.

  • Click Connect bank feeds to choose your financial institution.
  • You’ll be redirected to a secure portal to authorise access.
  • Note: Rask never sees your login credentials and cannot move your money.

2. Run your first sync

Once connected, Rask needs to pull your historical data.

  • Click Sync now to import up to 12 months of transactions.
  • This might take a minute or two depending on the volume of data.

3. Create a starter rule

Rules help Rask automatically categorise your spending.

  • Choose a common merchant (like “Coles” or “Woolworths”).
  • Select the appropriate category (e.g., “Groceries”).
  • Rask will apply this rule to all future transactions from that merchant.

4. Create a starter budget

A budget gives your money a purpose.

  • Pick one category you want to track closely (e.g., “Dining Out”).
  • Set a monthly dollar target.
  • You can add more detailed budgets later in the main dashboard.

5. Detect recurring

Rask can automatically identify your regular bills and income.

  • Click Detect recurring to let our engine scan your history.
  • This helps you see upcoming commitments and avoid “subscription creep.”

6. Review uncategorised

The final step is tidying up.

  • Click Review now to see any transactions Rask couldn’t automatically identify.
  • Assigning a category to these remaining items ensures your charts and insights are 100% accurate.

Troubleshooting

  • Bank not listed: We support most major Australian banks. If yours isn’t there, we’re likely working on it.
  • Sync errors: If a sync fails, wait 5 minutes and try again. Sometimes bank APIs have temporary downtime.
  • Wrong account: You can manage and disconnect individual accounts at any time from the Cashflow dashboard.
